The main route into Colombo City; smoothest during mid-morning and early afternoon.
• Via Pothuarawa Road – Defence Headquarters (Battaramulla)
A green shortcut that connects to Pelawatte and Parliament Road.
• Via Chandrika Kumaratunga Mawatha – Kelanimulla – Angoda – Ambatale Flyover
Avoids traffic near Rajagiriya and joins Dematagoda / Borella Road quickly.
• Via Kaduwela – Koswatta – Battaramulla
Good for reaching Diyatha Uyana, Thalawathugoda, or Colombo 07.

Tuk Tuks

Tuk tuks (three-wheelers) are the easiest way to move short distances — from the bus stop to the villa or to nearby cafés and supermarkets.
Book through PickMe or Uber Sri Lanka, or simply wave one down.
Adventurous guests can also hire self-drive tuk tuks to explore the island.

Self-Drive Vehicles

If you like independence, rent your own car or van.
Trusted companies such as Casons Rent A Car deliver vehicles to Malabe and help with paperwork.
Remember: we drive on the left side of the road, same as the UK.

Bicycle Hire

Cycling is a lovely, eco-friendly way to see Malabe.
We can arrange Trek, Giant, or Specialized bikes with helmets and route maps.
Popular paths: Thalangama Lake, Battaramulla Wetlands, and village roads around Kahanthota.

Key Routes to get into the Villa and travel tips from and to villa

• Kahanthota Road → Arangala Junction
Connects quickly to Battaramulla, Thalawathugoda, and Maharagama. This route joins the Parliament Road, leading to Rajagiriya, Borella, and Colombo 07.
• Pittugala Junction
Leads directly to Kaduwela, Kelanithissa, Kelaniya, and Kotalawala — ideal for catching the Kaduwela Expressway Entrance, which links to the Katunayake Airport Highway, Kandy Expressway, and Southern Expressway.

From here, you can either:
o Turn towards Kaduwela or Kelaniya, or
o Go straight via Malabe Town to Battaramulla and Colombo.

• Arangala to Athurugiriya
Joins the Outer Circular Highway, giving the fastest access to Kottawa, Maharagama, and the Southern Expressway. Perfect for travellers heading towards Galle, Matara, or Kataragama.

Travel Tips

Leave Malabe before 7.15 a.m. or after 9 a.m. to miss school traffic.
Evening return trips are easier between 6-10 pm Avoid office Hours 7-9 am and 4-5 pm unless required
Our caretaker or driver can suggest the best route each day based on real-time traffic.
Public Transport
You’ll find frequent buses from Malabe Bus Stand (Kahanthota Road):
• Route 170: Athurugiriya → Malabe → Thalangama → Rajagiriya → Pettah (Colombo Fort)
• Route 17: Malabe → Kaduwela (about 11 minutes · Rs 50–60)
• Other buses: 190 and 336 to nearby suburbs
From Colombo Fort Station, trains run daily to Kandy, Ella, Galle, and Matara — some of the most scenic journeys in the country.
